Kevin J. O’Day is the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and founding partner of The O’Day Group. Since the mid 1980’s Kevin has served Delaware and the surrounding east coast states as a dependable financial resource. His wealth of knowledge and experience allows him to serve clients in many areas of financial planning, although his focus is helping those nearing retirement with retirement and long-term care planning, investment management, social security planning, and sudden wealth management; as well as working with attorneys and clients with divorce issues.
His efforts have helped to guide his clients successfully into retirement while working to prepare them to adjust with life’s surprises along their journey. Recognized early in his career for his financial excellence, Kevin was invited to train the retail banking division for Wilmington Trust bank; he was an adjunct faculty member at Widener University where he taught the CFP® preparation courses. Kevin enjoyed teaching timeless financial principles of success and independence to families both at Goldey-Beacom College and Widener University.
Kevin studied financial planning and was awarded the CFP® designation from the College for Financial Planning of Denver, Colorado in 1984. Kevin also attended Brigham Young University of Provo, Utah, where he studied Business Management and Economics. Some years ago Kevin was privileged to be mentored by some remarkable people in the financial industry, such as Sir John Marks Templeton.
Kevin married his wife Lisa in June of 1985, and together they raised their daughter and two sons in Newark, Delaware before semi-retiring to Florida in 1993. After spending 12 years in retirement and three “mid-life” crises later, Kevin desired to return full time to the business that he truly loves, helping people with their finances. Since 2005 he’s worked to re-establish and position himself to mentor and share his wisdom with new and current clients and the financial community in Delaware. Kevin now resides in Landenberg, Pennsylvania and enjoys spending time with his wife, their children, and their grandchildren. Kevin’s civic activities include serving as high priest and counselor to congregations throughout southeastern Pennsylvania and previously serving as a financial resource management specialist.
